Philosophy of Learning

Course

MCOM 520 Selection and Utilization of Instructional Media

Outcome 6

Performance as a reflective and ethical practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of his or her choices and actions on others.

Summary

Behaviorist, cognitivist, and constructivist theories help educators gauge different learning styles and way to differentiate instruction to benefit students. Combining these major theories along with Gagne's nine events of instruction gives educators strong instructional methods to consider when designing effective instruction.  Citing educational and creative research in addition to the above mentioned theories and method has created a strong philosophy of learning, which other professionals may use as a resource and continue to build upon.

Reflection

I wrote my original philosophy of learning while construction my ideal classroom project in MCOM 520.  Since I took MCOM 520 in my first semester, my philosophy of learning has expanded and evolved. The foundation of my learning philosophy is rooted in research, yet is expanded upon by my own personal experiences and beliefs. This artifact challenges me to continue my growth and development as an educator.
