Reflection:

Chef in residence was my favorite project from my internship. After watching the AV team set up and run commencement, this was my chance to work hands on with the set up and running of the event. The event took place in the NCC theatre. A cooking station was set up in the middle of the theatre so people could sit and view the chef cook. AV's job was to run cameras and send the footage to a large projector screen to the audience could get a more detailed view.

We set up two cameras on tripods, one front and center and one on the stage left side. The third camera was hand held by a member of the AV team to capture moving shots. The cameras were all wired to the Tricaster, a machine that allows the operator to view each camera's position and switch between shots to give the audience the best viewing experience. Head sets were also wired to the Tricaster so Brian, the Tricaster operator could communicate with John running the moving shots, and myself, running the stage left camera. The guest chef prepared three dishes for the audience to observe. We also had to set up audio for the event, which consisted of a lapel mic for the chef and a podium for the dean to speak from at the beginning of the event.

The event ran very smoothly. It was a great example of how running audio and video can really enhance the over all event experience.
